KUCHING: The Eastern Field Command Headquarters (MK PMTTD) hosted an Iftar gathering with the Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as guests of honour at Masjid Solahuddin Al-Ayubbi, Penrissen Camp.
Among those present at the event were Brigadier General Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak State Secretary and Commander of Regiment 510 Territorial Army, along with his wife, Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, Major General Datuk Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz, Commander of the 1st Division, and his wife, Datin Roslina Abu Bakar, as well as Datuk Mancha Ata, Sarawak Police Commissioner, and his wife, Datin Jennita William.
The annual event aimed to strengthen ties between the Malaysian Army (TDM), state leaders, and the local community.
Tun Wan Junaidi was welcomed upon arrival by the Eastern Field Commander, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Mohd Lepi, and his wife Datin Erni Irawati Rosli, who is the Vice Chairperson 2 of BAKAT Darat (Army Wives Association).
As part of the programme, Tun Wan Junaidi presented donations to various groups in need, including five military personnel and children suffering from chronic illnesses, three individuals from the asnaf (underprivileged) category, five new mualaf (converts) who converted in 2024, and the residents of the Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Children’s Home, reflecting the spirit of charity and community care during the holy month of Ramadan.
After iftar (breaking of fast), attendees joined the congregation in performing Maghrib prayers before continuing the event with the main meal.
Despite the challenging weather, the spirit and high discipline of the military personnel remain evident, reflecting their resilience and determination.
Tun Wan Junaidi congratulated and appreciated the MK PMTTD for the successful organisation of the event.
On another note, the MK PMTTD expressed their appreciation for the presence of the Head of State and his wife at the meaningful occasion, recognising their presence as a symbol of unity between Sarawak’s leadership and the nation’s defence forces, reinforcing the strong bond between the military and state administration.
