BETONG: The Sarawak government remains committed to providing top-quality sports facilities in its effort to produce world-class young athletes.
Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, said that tournaments such as the Divisional-level School Sports Council (MSS) Championships play a vital role in uncovering young talents.
“At the Sarawak government level, we are fully dedicated to providing the best sports facilities for our people.
“This is in line with our aspiration to develop outstanding young athletes across all disciplines.
“Through platforms like MSS, we hope to discover new talent and nurture them into high-calibre athletes who will bring pride to Sarawak and Malaysia on the international stage.”
The Saribas assemblyman made the remarks while officiating the 21st Betong Division MSS Championships at the Betong Sports Complex yesterday.
He encouraged students to stay motivated and never give up in pursuing their dreams.
“I would like to express my appreciation to parents and educators for their ongoing support in shaping both the character and co-curricular development of our children.
“Believe me, sports play a crucial role in building a healthy, disciplined and competitive generation.”
Razi also announced a contribution of RM20,000 to the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SMK Saribas, the host of this year’s championships.
An additional RM20,000 was also allocated to the Betong Division contingent, which will represent the division at the state-level MSS tournament scheduled to be held in Sibu.
