KUCHING: Sarawak is gearing up to host the exciting Sarawak Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) Carnival 2025, scheduled to take place from May 10 to 11 at Dewan Sa’ati, SUPP Headquarters, here.

The event is organised by the Sarawak Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Association (SAGGA) and sanctioned by the Malaysian Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Association (MAGGA).

The carnival aims to unite gymnasts, coaches, and supporters from across the region for a weekend filled with competition, development, and celebration of the sport.

“The carnival features two core events: the National AGG Development (NAD) Programme Competition and the AGG School Programme Introductory Workshop — both instrumental in advancing the sport at the grassroots level,” according to AGG in a press statement on Wednesday.

On May 10, the National AGG Development (NAD) Programme Competition will open its doors to gymnasts aged six and above.

The competition includes both individual and group events, spanning levels from Kinder AGG to Level 6. All routines will follow the official NAD Technical Rulebook to ensure standardised and progressive athlete development.

“Participants will compete in three age categories — Children from aged six to fourteen, Junior from aged fourteen to sixteen, and Senior for participants sixteen years and above. The competition will commence at 1 pm and will conclude with a prize-giving ceremony at 4.30 pm,” it said.

The following day, May 11, will feature the AGG School Programme Introductory Workshop. This session will be led by Foong Seow Ting, who serves as MAGGA’s School Programme Technical Head.

The workshop is designed to introduce the fundamentals of AGG training techniques and programme structures, aiming to support the growth of well-informed coaches and aspiring gymnasts throughout Sarawak.

The workshop will culminate in a certificate presentation ceremony, to be officiated by Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Ir. Lo Khere Chiang at 3 pm.

The carnival reflects Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive AGG community, with emphasis on participation, recognition, and collaborative development.
