KOTA NUSANTARA: Sarawak is strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring new avenues for economic collaboration and cross-border investment with Indonesia through a visit to its new capital, Nusantara.
Nusantara, envisioned as Indonesia’s future smart and sustainable capital, represents one of Southeast Asia’s most ambitious growth frontiers.
The state’s delegation, led by Deputy Premier and Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, was also part of the state’s participation in the Sarawak Connects Fair in Balikpapan.
Accompanied by senior government officials and Sarawakian business leaders, the delegation held a dialogue session with Indonesian counterparts focused on trade, infrastructure development and investment opportunities.
The discussions served as a platform for mutual understanding and to foster long-term partnerships between both regions.
A key highlight of the visit was a tree planting ceremony at Plaza Bhineka, where Awang Tengah planted a commemorative tree symbolising the strengthening ties between Sarawak and Nusantara.
The act underscored a shared commitment to sustainable development and collaborative progress.
The delegation also visited several landmark developments here, including government precincts, newly established healthcare facilities, and the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) Training Centre, offering valuable insights into the capital’s infrastructure planning and rapid transformation.
This official engagement reflects Sarawak’s forward-looking strategy to expand its economic footprint in Indonesia and strengthen its role within emerging regional economic corridors.
