KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) has formalised a strategic collaboration with Bentley Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Digile Sdn Bhd to accelerate digital engineering adoption and strengthen infrastructure delivery across the state.
The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the JKR Research Centre here on Wednesday (April 22).
The ceremony was witnessed by Sarawak PWD’s Director, Datuk Dr Cassidy Morris, alongside Bentley Systems (Malaysia) Partner Director (APAC) Jeremy Cordeiro and Digile Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ravindranath Koka.
In a parallel arrangement, Digile also signed a separate MoU with Aimstral Sdn Bhd, represented by CEO Daniel Sim, as the local implementation partner.
The collaboration marks a significant step in aligning government and industry expertise to support Sarawak’s digital transformation agenda in the infrastructure sector, focusing on improving how projects are planned, designed, delivered and managed.
Under the partnership, Sarawak PWD will continue its role as the state’s lead infrastructure agency, while Bentley Systems will contribute globally recognised engineering software solutions.
Digile, together with Aimstral, will provide both global expertise and local implementation capabilities.
The initiative will focus on practical outcomes, including technical training programmes, workshops, seminars and knowledge-sharing platforms aimed at strengthening digital competencies among engineers and technical professionals.
It will also promote wider adoption of digital engineering tools across Sarawak’s infrastructure ecosystem.
Anchored on the principles of people, process and technology, the collaboration is expected to enhance coordination, reduce inefficiencies and improve project delivery, ensuring works are completed on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
A key long-term goal is the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in digital engineering within Sarawak PWD, serving as a benchmark for best practices and a hub for continuous knowledge development across the infrastructure lifecycle.
The initiative is also expected to contribute to broader economic and public service outcomes, recognising infrastructure as a critical driver of development.
Over the duration of the MoU, the parties will work closely to deliver training, demonstrate digital engineering workflows and implement scalable best practices across projects and agencies.
The collaboration reflects a concerted effort to build a more robust digital engineering ecosystem, strengthen public-private collaboration, and develop a future-ready workforce in Sarawak.
