KUCHING: A bowl of Sarawak Laksa will go beyond satisfying cravings this September, with RM5 from every participating order going towards supporting children battling cancer and their families.
In conjunction with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) has teamed up with Sampan House for a month-long fundraising initiative from September 1 to 30.
Throughout the campaign, RM5 from every bowl of Sampan House’s Sarawak Laksa sold will be donated directly to SCCS to support its work with children affected by cancer.
The initiative covers two menu options – Sarawak Laksa Chicken, priced at RM14.90, and Sarawak Laksa Prawn and Chicken, priced at RM16.90.
For each bowl purchased, RM5 will be channelled to SCCS.
The society said the collaboration provides members of the public with a simple way to contribute while enjoying one of Sarawak’s well-known local dishes.
“September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, during which greater attention is placed on children diagnosed with cancer and the challenges faced by their families,” it said.
SCCS has been advocating for and supporting children with cancer and their families for the past 25 years.
Through the collaboration, the society hopes to encourage the public to play a part in supporting young cancer patients throughout the month.
Members of the public wishing to participate can purchase the participating Sarawak Laksa dishes at Sampan House, which is open daily from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
