SINGAPORE: Sarawak has brought its best to the Lion City with the launch of the Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 here, aimed at boosting trade, investment and tourism links.

The two-day showcase highlights Sarawak’s high-quality products and services while creating a platform to expand economic cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties with Singapore.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the event was designed not only to promote Sarawak’s offerings but also to open new avenues for collaboration and draw lessons from Singapore’s world-class development model.

“The fair provides opportunities for knowledge-sharing, especially with Singapore being known as an innovation-driven economy with efficient governance and a transparent business ecosystem.

“Sarawak is proud to showcase a wide range of high-quality products and services including premium black pepper, halal food, ethnic handicrafts, digital solutions, education services, and clean energy.

“This exhibition reflects the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of Sarawakians who are now confidently stepping into the global market,” he said during the opening of the Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 at Suntec City here today.

Awang Tengah, who serves as International Trade, Industry and Investment Minister, said Sarawak was ramping up its focus on high-impact sectors under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

These include advanced manufacturing such as semiconductors and aerospace, green energy, smart agriculture, and the digital economy.

He pointed out that Sarawak’s investment-friendly policies, young and skilled workforce, and commitment to sustainability made the State a prime destination for investors, particularly in hydrogen, carbon trading, and sustainable downstream industries.

He also acknowledged Singapore’s success in building high-value industries and attracting foreign capital, calling it an inspiration for Sarawak’s ambition to achieve developed and high-income status by 2030.

“We aim to strengthen institutional ties with Singapore, especially in digital economy policies, industrial innovation, vocational training, and urban sustainability,” he added.

He further highlighted the role of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS), established in 2019, which has served as a vital bridge for trade promotion, tourism marketing, and new cooperation opportunities.

“Together, we can build strong partnerships for inclusive growth, green transformation, and regional leadership.

“What we want is real transformation that delivers meaningful impact in food security, decarbonisation, green energy, advanced manufacturing, utilities, and tourism,” he asserted.

The Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 features panel discussions with senior officials and corporate leaders from Sarawak, who shared insights into the State’s development direction and strategic investment prospects.

Alongside the business exhibition, visitors were treated to cultural performances and iconic dishes, such as laksa Sarawak and manuk pansuh, through the concurrent Sarawak Gastronomy Festival and Carnival.
