KUCHING: Two Sarawak Muay Thai fighters made a winning start to their month-long training camp in Thailand after defeating international opponents at the Bangla Boxing Stadium in Phuket.
Muhammad Haqiem Fitri scored a second-round knockout victory over a Russian opponent, while Malvince Chris Eddie Kuwing registered a convincing points win against an American fighter.
The bouts formed part of the Sarawak squad’s overseas training programme under coaches Ajan Putra and Iswandy Bolhassan, providing the athletes with valuable international exposure against experienced foreign opponents.
The month-long camp allows the fighters to train in one of Muay Thai’s traditional strongholds, where they undergo intensive daily training while competing against Thai and international opponents.
Besides the victories, the programme is aimed at sharpening the athletes’ technical skills and helping them adapt to different fighting styles in a highly competitive environment.
