KUCHING: Sarawak is in a strong position to chart a new phase of growth through what has been described as a once-in-a-generation opportunity that should be fully embraced by its people.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, said the state is benefiting from a combination of economic strength, the continued restoration of its rights and accelerating development momentum.
“Maintaining political stability and fostering unity among Sarawakians are crucial to ensuring the state remains on track to achieve its long-term vision and development goals,” he said.
He said this in his remarks during the 42nd anniversary dinner of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Pending Branch and the 67th anniversary celebration of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) at Seafood Shangri-La, Rooftop, CityOne Megamall here on Thursday night.
Reflecting on the progress of the Pending constituency, he highlighted the impact of the Resettlement Scheme spearheaded by his late father, noting that it had significantly improved the lives of many lower-income families.
He also voiced optimism for renewed growth in Taman Kenyalang, expressing hope that the area would once again become a thriving hub of development.
Dr Sim noted that Taman Kenyalang was once regarded as a benchmark for successful low-cost housing projects in Sarawak. However, slower development over the years has left it trailing behind other growing areas.
He, therefore, called on residents to continue supporting development initiatives, saying sustained public trust would help drive further progress and create better opportunities for future generations.
