SIBU: The Royal Malaysian Navy Veterans Association (PVTLDM) Sarawak Branch will attend the annual Heroes’ Day commemoration ceremony at the Penang Cenotaph Monument on Nov 16.
President Warrant Officer 1 (retd) Unyok Dasi said the annual ceremony was organised by the Penang Security Veterans Association (PVA) and this will be the first time.
The association will send five members of the main committee, including himself, to Penang a day before the event to join in enlivening the ceremony.
“Thank you for the invitation. For us, this invitation is a great recognition and appreciation to the PVTLDM Sarawak Branch and we are very excited to be together with our veteran friends in Penang to celebrate the ceremony,” he said on Sunday (Nov 2).
Unyok said that his party would take advantage of the opportunity to attend the invitation to strengthen ties with veterans in Penang who would be present at the ceremony.
He said that on Sept 21, his party was invited to attend the Heroes’ Day commemoration ceremony organised by the Malaysian Chinese Army Veterans Association (MACVA) at the National Monument in the federal capital.
Unyok recently led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on Territorial Army Support Committee (JAKPAW), 510thTerritorial Army Regiment, Major (hon) Wilson Ling Beng Lung at his office here.
Several matters were discussed during the visit, including the direction of the association and activities throughout the year as well as planning activities for next year.
