KUCHING: Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni hopes the state government and Petronas will engage in more sustainability efforts.

He said this after a corporate briefing by Petronas on the topic of enhancing activities in Sarawak that are relevant to sustainability.

The briefing at Petronas Sarawak office in Wisma Naim yesterday (Feb 20) was conducted by vice president and chief sustainability officer Charlotte Wolf-Bye to update Hazland on Petronas’ sustainability roadmap and efforts to decarbonise the organisation.

“New exploration fields, decarbonisation of operations, quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and development of future technologies are among the activities that Petronas plans to undertake in Sarawak,” a press release issued by Petronas said today (Feb 22).

Dr Hazland thanked the Petronas team for the briefing and sharing session. He also expressed his desire to see the Sarawak government and Petronas engage in more open discussions and information exchanges in the future.
