KUCHING: Sarawak-born para shuttler Nurzammiezatul Syafiqqah Mohammad Zamberi continues to make waves on the international stage after clinching a bronze medal for Malaysia at the Hulic Daihatsu Japan Para Badminton International 2025.

Teaming up with Mohammad Amin Azmi in the mixed doubles (SH6) event, the pair fought through a single round-robin format held from Nov 5 to 9, which featured competitors from four different countries.

The Malaysian duo began their campaign with a narrow 17–21, 21–9, 17–21 loss to Hong Kong’s C. Wong and Choi W.K., before bouncing back in style to defeat Germany’s Robin Weiler and Julia Schramm 21–10, 21–7.

However, they fell short in their final match against India’s Nagar Krishna and Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan, losing 17–21, 11–21 — enough to secure a bronze finish.

“I’m really happy to contribute another bronze medal for the country. It’s our second bronze after achieving the same result at the Polytron Indonesia Para Badminton International 2025,” said Nurzammiezatul when contacted by Arena Suara Sarawak.

She expressed gratitude to all who have supported her journey, especially her family, whose prayers and encouragement fuel her drive.

“Even though it’s just bronze, we gave our best throughout the tournament. I hope this success will serve as motivation for upcoming championships,” she added.
