SIBURAN: The Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) today (Sept 23) incinerated nearly RM1.5 million worth of illegal drugs and urine samples, closing the chapter on more than 11,000 completed cases statewide since 2017.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata said the disposal involved 11,004 cases from 23 districts, with investigations and court proceedings concluded between 2017 and 2024 under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Poisons Act 1952.
The operation was supervised by Sarawak NCID chief ACP Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah at the Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park, where the seized items were destroyed using a thermal treatment plant (incinerator) managed by Trienekens Sarawak Sdn Bhd, an accredited company under the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
“The total value of the disposed items amounted to RM1,471,837.24.
“They included syabu (9.73kg), ecstasy powder (5.47kg), and marijuana (1.15kg), Nospan pills (7.44kg), Erimin 5 pills (1.19kg), ketamine (267.70g), Ecstasy pills (231.01g), ketum water (two litres), and 7,852 urine bottles.
“The disposal was carried out in accordance with Sections 406A and 407 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” he said.
Mancha assured that the NCID remains committed in fighting drug-related crimes, which is considered the nation’s number one enemy, to protect current and future generations.
