“I am particularly interested not only in the presence of ministers, but also the support of figures such as the Sarawak Premier, Abang Johari, who is among those at the forefront in driving change and advancement in new technologies,” he said in his opening address at the Malaysia Economic Forum (FEM) 2026, which he officiated at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) today (Feb 5).

Meanwhile, Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said FEM 2026 served as a key platform for engagement between the government and stakeholders in shaping the country’s economic direction.

He said the forum emphasised evidence-based policy implementation, with outcomes to be channelled directly into the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

FEM 2026, the second edition of the Malaysia Economic Forum, is now recognised as a national platform for advancing the country’s socio-economic agenda.

Held under the theme ‘Accelerating Growth, Advancing Malaysia’, the forum focused on accelerating national development in line with the 13MP (2026-2030), with discussions covering economic policy, investment, artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, talent development, affordable housing, healthcare reform and preparedness for an ageing population.
