MIRI: The Sarawak Government has reaffirmed its commitment to people-centric development through a major public outreach initiative launched here this weekend.
Held at the Miri City Stadium, the Bakti MADANI Miri 2025: Sarawak Maju Makmur programme was jointly organised by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) and the Federal Government, aimed at bridging public services with communities across northern Sarawak.
RECODA Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ismawi Ismuni, said the event exemplifies Sarawak’s vision for inclusive development through infrastructure and socio-economic projects tailored to local needs.
“Our efforts reflect the government’s aspiration to bring progress to the people. This collaboration with the Federal Government is a testament to our shared commitment,” he said during the launch today.
Representing Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the opening ceremony was Sarawak’s Utility and Telecommunication Minister, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi.
The three-day event, expected to draw over 100,000 visitors from Miri, Bintulu, Limbang, Lawas, Sabah and Brunei, includes exhibitions, career expos, and interactive talks on entrepreneurship, health, and human capital development.
Among the highlights are the RECODA Entrepreneur Carnival, featuring 72 stalls showcasing local products from across the SCORE region, and the MADANI Rahmah Sale offering essential goods at discounted prices through partnerships with Emart and Nam Leong supermarkets.
Visitors can also enjoy live performances by national and local artists, including Alleycats, Baby Shima, and Ricky Andrewson, as part of the ‘Konsert Rakyat’ series.
A grand lucky draw will see prizes ranging from smart TVs and motorcycles to a brand-new Proton Saga 1.3 Premium.
“Through initiatives like this, we not only bring services closer to the people but also create platforms for communities to thrive, connect and prosper,” Ismawi said.
The event forms part of the wider MADANI Rakyat Programme, rolled out in six states last year to promote governmental outreach and transparency at the grassroots level.
