LIMBANG: Sarawak’s transformation has earned global recognition, with the state now regarded as an energy giant in the region.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim noted that during his trips to Geneva, Paris and Japan, Sarawak was described as a leader in renewable energy, showing how far it has progressed.
“Fifty years ago, no one could have imagined this. Even 20 years ago, no one thought Sarawak would be leading in new technology,” he said when officiating at the launching of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road Phase 2 (SSLR2) project at Nanga Medamit today.

Anwar praised Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for his forward-looking ideas, saying other states often lagged behind in vision and planning.
“When I meet Chief Ministers, I invite Abang Johari to brief them on how to think ahead, because some states only ask but provide no ideas.
“Tomorrow in Kuching, I will officiate a new technology project which reflects how far Sarawak has advanced,” he added.

Turning to local needs, Anwar announced a new Type 5 clinic for Limbang costing about RM11 million, to be implemented next year.
“For the clinic requested by Limbang MP, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, I approve RM11 million and want work to begin as soon as possible,” he said.
He also allocated RM100,000 to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Medamit for the needs of teachers and students.
