KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) has taken swift action following a viral incident involving a departmental vehicle allegedly overtaking another vehicle on a double line.
Director Norizan Jili convened a special meeting at the RTD Sarawak Complex with all enforcement officers and departmental drivers today to address the incident and reinforce the department’s commitment to upholding traffic laws without exception.

The department said the meeting was not merely symbolic but a reflection of its principle of no double standards in law enforcement.
The department added that there will be no compromise when it comes to road safety and that any breach of traffic regulations, including by its own personnel, will not be tolerated.
Before any RTD operation is carried out, officers are required to attend a pre-operation roll-call and receive their assignments in a structured and professional manner to ensure discipline and order on the ground.
The department remains steadfast in upholding the highest standards of enforcement integrity and will not compromise on any breach of the law, especially those endangering road users’ safety.
