KUCHING: Sarawak showcased its growing appeal as a sustainable, culturally rich, and easily accessible destination for Singaporeans and the expatriate community at the Singapore Expo’s Travel Malaysia Fair (TMF) on May 2-4.
With Singapore consistently ranking among Sarawak’s top five international visitor markets in 2024 and direct flights connecting the city-state to Kuching, Miri, and Sibu, the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) seized the opportunity to boost tourist arrivals further.
The Sarawak Pavilion featured five dedicated sellers, including travel agencies Meidi Travel Solutions, Singatour, and EU Holidays, offering specially curated travel packages highlighting Sarawak’s vibrant eco-tourism, unique cultural heritage, and thrilling adventure offerings.
The pavilion also served as a networking hub for Singaporean travel agents to foster future collaborations and product development.
“Singapore has always been a vital market for us,” said Sharzede Datuk Salleh Askor, the chief executive officer (CEO) of STB.
“Our presence and participation reaffirm our commitment to deepen engagement with Singapore’s travel community and reconnect with a mature market that values nature, heritage and convenience.
“The significant turnout of Singaporean attendees at the Rainforest World Music Festival 2024, supported by direct flights, reflects the strength of this connection and the potential to grow it even further.”
STB remains confident that ongoing marketing initiatives, enhanced air connectivity, including 14 weekly flights operated by Scoot, and strong industry partnerships will continue to drive momentum in visitor arrivals.
This latest showcase builds upon the success of previous collaborations, such as the 2024 Tripartite Campaign Agreement between STB, Scoot, and the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS).
It reinforces Sarawak’s growing presence in Singapore as a top destination for business-leisure (leisure) and eco-cultural tourism.
