KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak showcased its strong commitment to legacy-driven business events at EventXpo 2025 in Kuala Lumpur recently, highlighting initiatives that benefit the economy, society and environment.
Building on last year’s successful Tribe Legacy Sarawak theme, the state presented key programmes under the Sarawak Pavilion that demonstrate how business events can create lasting positive impact beyond economic gains.
“Being Malaysia’s legacy capital of business events means driving impactful programmes and ensuring stakeholders have the tools, support, and opportunities needed to contribute to national progress,” said Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak.
Sarawak’s participation served as a platform to spotlight initiatives aligned with social, economic and environmental development goals.
One of the main highlights is LEGACY360, Malaysia’s first business event legacy forum, to be held in Kuching this October.
The forum focuses on five legacy objectives which are Advocate, Educate, Advance, Recognise and Support and each is supported by specific initiatives such as the LEAP Summit for advocacy, AI.LEGACY Intelligent Impact Management System for innovation, Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards for recognition and incentives for event planners committed to long-term impact.
“Advocacy at policymaking levels is vital.
“The LEAP Summit will bring together government leaders and industry players from around the world to explore how business events can support social growth, economic progress, and environmental responsibility,” said Amelia.
At EventXpo, BESarawak signed a Memorandum of Collaboration with Borneo Business Connect to launch Kind Borneo, a community-focused expo scheduled alongside LEGACY360 on Oct 2 to 3 in Kuching that aims to bring together corporations, non-profits and philanthropies to promote kindness and positive social impact.
Sarawak introduced the I AM LEGACY movement to Peninsular Malaysia for the first time at the event, celebrating efforts to create positive change through business events and represented by a delegation of 13 co-exhibitors from event management, destination management, hospitality and venue sectors.
The delegation included Absolute Cool Event, Place Borneo, Techno Expo, Cat City Holidays, Greatown Travel, Hilton Kuching, Pullman Kuching & Miri Waterfront, Imperial Hotel Miri, RH Hotel Sibu, Sheraton Kuching Hotel, Miri & Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa, The Waterfront Hotel Kuching, and Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.
“EventXpo was a success for Sarawak.
“The strong support from stakeholders shows that legacy-building is no longer just a concept but a shared path for the future. Collaboration is key to creating lasting value,” said Amelia.
EventXpo 2025, organised by the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS), featured over 90 companies, two state pavilions and international exhibitors from Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, India and Singapore under the theme Business Events Build Nations.
