KUCHING: Sarawak’s badminton squad is ready to take its shot at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA), with 16 shuttlers selected to carry the state’s challenge in Selangor.
The contingent features an evenly balanced line-up of eight men and eight women under team manager Datuk Dr Wan Khalik and head coach James Chua, assisted by coaches Razlan Shah and Ichwansyah.
Sarawak’s men’s squad comprises Isyraf Hafizin, Alwyn Chua, Jared Foo, Chung Jia Ho, Darrent Lim, Dexter Ong, Brendan Liu and Leong Ming Kai.
The women’s challenge will be carried by Genevie Lim, Wafa Shahmina Rahman, Megan Tan, April Lee, Levia Kho, Yuki Leong, Julia Yek and Shanice Tang.
With the squad assembled, attention now turns to competition as the Sarawak shuttlers look to translate their preparations into results on court.
Sarawak’s badminton campaign begins tomorrow (Aug 15), with the men’s and women’s team events running from Aug 15 to 20.
The focus will then shift to the individual events from Aug 21 to 24, giving Sarawak another opportunity to challenge for honours as the badminton programme enters its second phase.
With 10 days of competition ahead, the 16-member squad will look to make every serve, rally and smash count in Sarawak’s wider pursuit of medals at SUKMA Selangor 2026.
