KUCHING: Sarawak’s shuttlers turned on the heat at the 2025 Borneo Games Kuching (BGK), sweeping all their morning qualifying matches against East Kalimantan today to underline their title campaign.

The men’s team opened strongly through Goh Shun Huat, who dominated his singles tie with a resounding 21-8, 21-9 victory over David Antolient.

Teammate Shawn Hiu followed suit, brushing aside Ramanda Z. Ramadhani 21-13, 21-16.

In the men’s doubles, Hon Sin Hong and Jeremy Juan Zhen Liang were made to work harder, but their resilience shone through in a three-set thriller, edging Antolient and Ramadhani 21-16, 16-21, 21-17 to complete a clean sweep for the men.

The women’s side matched that dominance. Janice Tchin Yao Xuan delivered the first point with a composed 21-17, 21-18 win over Nella Puspita Dewi.

Wafa Shahmina Rahman then staged a superb comeback, recovering from a first-set loss to beat Karina Ria Hardianti 15-21, 21-7, 21-10.

Closing the session, women’s doubles pair Felicia Fong Xin Hui and Flora Fong Xin Jie proved too strong for their rivals, easing past Nella and Karina 21-13, 21-7.
