KUCHING: Singapore remains a vital gateway for Sarawak to the world as the state deepens trade and investment ties with regional and international partners, says Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee.
He said Sarawak views Singapore as more than just a trading partner, but as a hub for global trade, innovation, finance, and connectivity.
“The relationship between Sarawak and Singapore is one of enduring friendship and also of strategic importance. For Sarawak, Singapore represents more than just a trading partner, because we view Singapore as a hub for global trade, innovation, finance and connectivity.
“It is really a window for Sarawak to the world, a place where ideas, investments, opportunities converge,” he said during the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore
(STATOS) – Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SMCCI) Business Mission to Kuching, Sarawak, held at a hotel here today (Sept 22).
For Singapore, Hii said Sarawak offers not only resources, market potential, but a strategic partner that shares a common vision for growth, resilience and sustainable development.
“The mission, therefore, is not only networking, but it is about deepening the bridge between Singapore and Sarawak, a bridge which we hope that we can build through trust, mutual opportunity and also a shared determination to have a win-win success together,” he added.
Hii, who is also STATOS director, said a mega conference, Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 would be held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, running from Oct 16 to 19.
He said the fair will also include a two-day conference, targeting about 700 delegates.
On the business mission, it has brought together 15 Singapore enterprises and 22 personnel from diverse industries including halal food and beverage, logistics, education, healthcare, construction, digital technology, and the creative sector.
Over three days, delegates will visit leading Sarawak companies and factories, engage with prominent industry bodies such as the Sarawak Manufacturers Association, SME Association Sarawak, Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority, and the Sarawak ICT Association, and experience Sarawak’s cultural and culinary heritage.
