KUCHING: Sarawak’s efforts to develop a highly skilled, future-ready workforce took a major step forward as the Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills) formalised two significant partnerships with Halliburton Energy Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Bhd (SDEC).

The signing ceremonies, held today at the Sarawak Skills Auditorium, were witnessed by Sarawak Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

The first partnership saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sarawak Skills and Halliburton Energy Services, marking a strategic collaboration to enhance industry-relevant training and workforce development, particularly within the oil and gas sector.

Under this MoU, both parties will jointly design and implement specialised training programmes, provide practical training and internship opportunities, and promote knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The partnership focuses on retrofitting advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery and delivering practical, hands-on training programmes to equip local talent with relevant skills in smart manufacturing and digital technologies.

Both partnerships underscore a shared commitment to supporting Sarawak’s digital transformation and economic growth by strengthening technical education and preparing a workforce aligned with the demands of industrial innovation.
