KUCHING: Sarawak Skills will expand its programmes based on the Green Economy to produce more skilled workers in this emerging field.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawak has been actively advancing green technology and alternative renewable energy sources.
“Sarawak has become a pioneer in developing the ecosystem and production of green hydrogen in Malaysia.
“The state will continue to grow sustainably, guided by green economic technologies,” he said when officiating the 27th Sarawak Skills Convocation Ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
The Premier’s speech was read out by Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
Abang Johari added that the state is also placing strong emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and is actively strengthening the TVET ecosystem through technical training institutions such as Sarawak Skills.
He said this effort involves close collaboration with industries in energy, engineering, digital technology, food security, and modern agriculture.
“I am also very proud and pleased with Sarawak Skills for integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its teaching and learning system.
“This is very much in line with the government’s aspiration to nurture a tech-savvy generation that thrives in today’s era of advanced technology,” he said.
