KUCHING: The Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) will hold its 27th Convocation Ceremony, marking another milestone in the institution’s ongoing commitment to skills development and technical education in the state.

Hallman Sabri, executive director of Sarawak Skills, said a total of 678 graduates from various skills programmes will be receiving their certificates and diplomas during the ceremony, which will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Nov 3.

“The graduates have successfully completed their studies at both certificate and diploma levels.

“We are proud of their achievements and confident they will contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s human capital development in line with the State’s Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he said.

The Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions comprises Sarawak Skills Kuching, the Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (AWISAR), the Sarawak Electrical Industry Training Institute (SEITI), Sarawak Skills Mukah, Sarawak Skills Miri, the Sarawak Agriculture Vocational Training Institute (SAVTI), Sarawak Skills Sri Aman, and Sarawak Skills Bintulu.

The convocation will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who will also present several awards in recognition of academic excellence and industry collaboration.

These include the Human Capital Awards, Industry Awards, and Achievement Awards to selected graduates.

In conjunction with the convocation, Sarawak Skills Open Day 2025 will be held from Oct 28 to Nov 1 at Sarawak Skills Kuching.

The event will feature a variety of activities such as food stalls, games, karaoke and fishing competitions, exhibitions, and campus tours, offering visitors a chance to experience the vibrant campus environment firsthand.

It also provides a platform for students, parents, and industry players to engage with our educators and learn more about our hands-on training programmes.
Members of the public are invited to visit the campus between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm daily during the Open Day.

Meanwhile, for those unable to attend the convocation in person, the ceremony will be live-streamed on Sarawak Skills’ official Facebook page (Sarawak Skills) and YouTube channel (@sarawakskills.official).
