KUCHING: Sarawak and Slovakia are exploring wider cooperation in areas including trade, investment, education, technology, tourism and culture.
The matter was discussed during Slovak Republic Ambassador to Malaysia Peter Spisiak’s courtesy call on Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri Sarawak here today (Aug 10).
Wan Junaidi and Spisiak exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including current developments and potential areas for collaboration.
Wan Junaidi also shared insights into Sarawak’s development across various sectors, including emerging areas such as renewable energy alongside its oil and gas industry.
He also highlighted the history of Borneo, stressing the importance of documenting the region’s past from the perspective of local historians to provide a more accurate account of its history.
Also present was director of the Sarawak Regional Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hendy Assan.
Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation for Spisiak’s visit and hoped cooperation between Sarawak and Slovakia would continue to grow for mutual benefit.
