KUCHING: Students in Sarawak are among the key beneficiaries of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) Malaysia’s We Care Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

A sum of RM432,000 has been allocated to support more than 1,500 students from 13 schools across Sarawak, Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

The allocation was announced during the launch of this year’s We Care initiative, marking the oil exploration company’s continued collaboration with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) to support education and community development in areas where the company operates.

PTTEP Malaysia country manager Vitoon Chaisomboonpan said the We Care programme reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to education and community empowerment.

“The We Care programme reflects our continued focus on education and community empowerment in the areas where we operate. Together with MRA and our other stakeholders, we will continue to expand our efforts and engage communities through programmes that create value and support learning, while fostering a spirit of community,” he said.

The We Care programme is guided by PTTEP’s four CSR pillars namely basic needs, education, environment and culture and is designed to create meaningful and lasting impacts within the communities it serves.

This year’s programme began with back-to-school assistance and educational outreach activities, providing students with essential school supplies while equipping participating schools with digital tools and resources to create a more conducive learning environment.

The launch also marked the start of a series of interactive outreach sessions, with the next programme scheduled to take place in Bintulu.

Organised in close collaboration with government-linked agency partners, the sessions will offer students opportunities to take part in fun and educational activities focused on health, safety, character building and environmental protection.

One of the highlights of this year’s We Care programme is the introduction of the Gift of Knowledge Book Donation Campaign, aimed at supporting schools in the region. In addition to distributing pre-loved books donated by the public, financial contributions will be used to purchase new reference materials, illustrated storybooks, as well as educational and scientific magazines for children.

Members of the public who wish to support the Gift of Knowledge Book Donation Campaign may contribute to The Malaysian Relief Agency Foundation.

Domestic donations of RM200 and above are eligible for tax exemption receipts.
