PERAK: Sarawak students showcased their skills at the Malaysia Rocket CanSat Competition 2025, held from September 2 to 4 at FELCRA Seberang Perak, with support from Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS).
The Sarawak representatives were the Top 3 winners of the Sarawak Rocketeers CanSat Challenge, an initiative launched by TEGAS in June as the state’s first rocket and satellite design-and-build competition.
Teams from SMK Sungai Tapang, Sekolah Menengah Seni Sarawak, and SMK Penrissen competed at the national level, demonstrating innovation and technical expertise alongside participants from across the region.
Organised by UiTM HEMREL in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), the competition drew 700 participants from 68 teams across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Students competed in the 1-Km Rocket Launch and CanSat Competition, which tested creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
“Through this milestone, TEGAS continues its mission to build an inclusive and future-ready STEM ecosystem by empowering Sarawak youth to excel on national and international platforms.
“This effort is part of TEGAS’ long-term commitment to nurturing digital talent and preparing the next generation of innovators for Sarawak’s digital economy,” TEGAS said in a statement today.
