KUCHING: Sarawak students studying at public or private higher education institutions throughout Malaysia can apply for the Special Financial Assistance (BKK) for Sarawak Students, valued at RM1,200 annually, from May 1 to June 1, 2025.
Education, Innovation and Talent Development Deputy Minister, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, said this initiative is expected to benefit 60,000 students.
The funds will be distributed in two instalments of RM600 per semester, credited directly into students’ S PAY Global accounts throughout their study period.
He said that the scheme will be officially launched by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on June 28, with payments to follow soon after the launch.
“This assistance is available to all students, regardless of their economic background.

“No other state has implemented such an initiative. The application window is open from May 1 to the end of June.
“For those who miss this round, there will be another opportunity to apply in September, especially for students enrolling later in the year,” he told a press conference on BKK at Wisma Adenan, Yayasan Sarawak here today.
According to Dr Annuar, the eligibility criteria include: students must be Sarawakian (at least one of the parents or guardians is a Sarawakian), currently pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree at a public or private higher education institution (IPTA or IPTS) recognised by the Federal Higher Education Ministry; enrolled in full-time study mode, and endorsed and certified by their respective institutions that the students fulfill all the above criteria.
Additionally, students must register for a Sarawak ID and have an active S PAY Global account.
All applications must be submitted through the official portal at https://myys.yayasansarawak.org.my/ for verification and confirmation.
