THE International Trade, Industry and Investment Ministry is constructing five additional industrial parks in Kuching, Sibu and Bintulu to complement the existing network of industrial zones across Sarawak.

Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh said the expansion covered a total development area of 417 acres.

He said six industrial park projects spanning 119 acres had been completed under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) at a total cost of RM132.1 million in Kuching, Sri Aman, Betong, Bintulu and Miri.

Two Anjung Usahawan in Kuching were also completed with an overall cost of RM19.2 million.

“These five new industrial parks and four Anjung Usahawan projects will be implemented through an approved ceiling of RM139.1 million,” he said when delivering his winding-up speech in the august House today.

Malcolm said the ministry had also been allocated a total ceiling of RM403.25 million for the development of 15 industrial parks and 15 Anjung Usahawan projects statewide.

He added that a key strategic aim of these initiatives was to expand essential business and manufacturing infrastructure into small towns and rural areas.

“All these vital projects are progressing through various stages of implementation, including site identification, siting application, land acquisition, design and tender preparation,” he said.

He said the Sarawak Bioindustrial Park in Kota Samarahan represented a major initiative aimed at developing a high-value biotechnology-based industrial ecosystem focused on bioactives, biohealth, biomaterials, bioenergy and bioenvironment.

The park, he said, would provide Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and emerging bio-based companies with access to shared Research and Development (R&D) facilities and commercialisation pathways.

Meanwhile, the Kota Petra Green Technology Park in Kuching, a private-sector initiative, integrated clean energy, advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure.

“These projects are expected to attract over RM14 billion in private investments and create thousands of high-skilled employment opportunities,” he added.

Malcolm also acknowledged the Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Ministry (KUSKOP) for its Program Pembangunan Premis (Tamu Desa).

He said the upgrading of 39 Tamu Desa across Sarawak had been fully completed at a cost of about RM8 million.

“This initiative will continue under 13MP, and my ministry together with the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government is identifying a list of new Tamu Desa projects for implementation in 2026,” he said.
