KUCHING: Sarawak is set to host the 6th International Energy Week (IEW) 2025 from July 15 to 17 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Hipni said the event is expecting over 6,500 people from 25 countries, an impressive 18 per cent growth from last year.
“Our Ministry has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to hosting this premier regional energy event. Each year, IEW has grown in both impact and influence. This year, we’re taking it to an entirely new level.
“IEW 2025 will embrace the powerful theme, “ From Sarawak to the World: Journey to Clean Energy Leadership.”
“This theme reflects Sarawak’s rising status as one of Asia-Pacific’s most dynamic and forward-looking clean energy leaders. This surge underscores IEW’s growing stature as the region’s premier platform for energy innovation, collaboration, and leadership,” he told a press conference regarding IEW at the DUN Complex here Tuesday (May 27).
He added that the exhibition space is completely sold out with over 400 companies from around the world poised to showcase cutting-edge innovations in renewables, hydrogen, energy efficiency, smart grids, CCUS technologies and green infrastructure.
With over 200 booths, he estimated a potential business of over 2.5 million USD during IEW 2025.
According to him, the exhibition will also feature the IEW Summit on July 15 and 16, featuring 50 speakers and delegates across 20 carefully curated sessions.
“Our programme offers exceptional highlights that truly set us apart: A Visionary Dialogue with the Premier of Sarawak, Ministerial Forums on economic transformation and natural gas as a regional catalyst, plus expert panels on Asean policy harmonisation, sustainable development, and energy innovation.
“We’ve also dedicated sessions to workforce development, youth empowerment, and technical and career talks – because preparing the next generation of energy leaders is just as critical as the technology we adopt,” he added.
Dr Hazland said IEW 2025 represents a defining moment for Sarawak’s energy industry as the state positions itself not just as consumer but as producer and exporter of clean
energy solutions.
“This platform will catalyse industrial growth, secure strategic investments, and establish Sarawak as a key player in the regional clean energy ecosystem,” he added.
