SARAWAK is set to introduce its Sarawak Talent Development Policy and Blueprint next year.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said it is a landmark initiative that embodies Sarawak’s long-term commitment to nurturing, retaining, and attracting talent in the state.
He said the comprehensive policy and blueprint is the strategic response to the evolving workforce demands of Sarawak’s economy.
“We want to cultivate a technically skilled, agile, innovative and future-ready workforce that will propel Sarawak’s economic transformation and secure long-term sustainability.
“A total of RM1 million has been allocated for the completion of this study,” he said when this tabling the 2026 State Budget.
To address graduate unemployment and ensure young Sarawakians are equipped with the skills demanded by today’s job market, Abang Johari said the state will continue with the implementation of the Graduate Enhancement Training Sarawak (GETS) programme.
He said participating graduates with receive a monthly allowance of RM1,500 and be provided with training opportunities in both the public and private sectors with a focus on soft skills, leadership development and team building competencies under this initiative.
“Under this Budget, RM20 million will be allocated next year which will benefit 1,000 graduates and empowering them to transition more effectively into the workforce,” he said.
