KUCHING: Sarawak’s U21 women’s rugby team has made a strong statement in their opening Pra SUKMA Melaka Rugby 7s 2026 Group Z fixtures.
The 15-player squad registered back-to-back victories, including a commanding 50-0 win over Harcos Ladies.
The side, featuring a blend of players from Miri, Kuching and Bintulu, also secured a 15-5 win over Terengganu, setting an early benchmark in the competition held at Stadium Hang Tuah, Melaka from Apr 25 to 26.

The Sarawak squad showed cohesion and discipline throughout both matches, with their defensive structure particularly standing out as they kept Harcos Ladies scoreless in the opener.
Against Harcos Ladies, Sarawak dominated from start to finish, crossing the line repeatedly to secure a comprehensive 50-point margin. They carried that momentum into their second fixture of the day, where they faced a sterner challenge from Terengganu but remained composed in key moments to seal a 15-5 victory.

The team had arrived in Melaka on Thursday and made use of the opportunity to train at the SK Duyong rugby field, a session which proved valuable in adapting to local conditions ahead of the tournament.
Sarawak have been drawn in Group Z alongside Harcos Ladies, Terengganu and Kedah, whom they will face later today, with the remaining matches expected to further test their consistency and depth in the Pra SUKMA campaign.
