KUCHING: Sarawak’s rising taekwondo star Fedealis Kom Twin has been selected to represent the national taekwondo (WTF) squad following his remarkable achievements on both national and international stages.

The 16-year-old athlete caught the attention of selectors after clinching a silver medal for Malaysia at the 16th Asean Taekwondo Federation Championship in Manila, Philippines, last year.

Fedealis’ prowess was further highlighted by his exceptional performance at the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) III 2023 Sibu last month, where he secured three gold medals in the poomsae event for the South Zone team and was honoured with the prestigious ‘Most Promising Athlete’ award.

His consistent success and dedication have earned him the opportunity to undergo full-time centralised training alongside other talented taekwondo seniors from Sarawak at the Bukit Jalil Sports Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Sarawak Taekwondo Federation (WTF) president Azizul Annuar Adenan was proud of Fedealis’ achievements, citing his significant contributions to the state and nation through his remarkable performances in global poomsae championships since 2022.

His selection to the national squad reflects not only his individual talent but also the strength and depth of taekwondo in Sarawak.

With his inclusion in the national squad, Fedealis is gearing up to represent Malaysia at various upcoming competitions, including the Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) XXI and other national and international championships.
