KUCHING: Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd Southern Region will commence urgent repair works on a pumping main along Jalan Matang near Taman Heng Guan here, following structural issues caused by ground settlement.
The repair will be carried out at 9 pm tonight (Aug 6) and is expected to be completed by 7am tomorrow (Aug 7).
It said the operation is critical to restoring the integrity and safety of the affected pipeline. Due to the site’s complexity, preparatory works are underway before the main repair process begins.
Consumers in several areas may experience low water pressure or temporary supply disruptions during the repair period.
These areas include Jalan Matang (Kubah Ria to Batu 9), Taman Sri Harmoni, Jalan Sungai Tengah, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub, Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhamad Salahudin, Jalan Demak, Jalan Bako, Muara Tebas, Petra Jaya, and surrounding JBALB zones.
During the water supply recovery phase, users may also encounter airlocks or discoloured water.
To alleviate the inconvenience, water tankers will be dispatched to affected locations. Consumers are urged to store adequate water ahead of the scheduled repair.
Sarawak Water also assured the public that efforts are being made to minimise disruptions and complete the repair efficiently.
