SELANGOR: Sarawak’s women’s volleyball squad completed a perfect Malaysia Games (SUKMA) Selangor 2026 pool campaign with a 3-0 victory over Pahang at Dewan Bola Tampar MBSA, here today (Aug 19).
The Sarawakians had earlier defeated Negeri Sembilan 3-0 on August 17 before dispatching Johor by the same scoreline a day later, maintaining an unbeaten run without dropping a single set.
The perfect start has given coach Angela Tang growing confidence in her charges, who she believes can carry the momentum all the way to the final.
“If the girls play well like this and keep their momentum like this, I am sure we will not only make it to the finals but will win the finals,” she told Sarawak Tribune.
Despite the commanding results, Tang said her players still made several avoidable mistakes during today’s match, forcing her coaching staff to intervene whenever the momentum began to shift.

She said she instructed her assistants to call a timeout whenever Sarawak conceded five points, using the breaks to settle the players and reset their strategy.
“Yeah, I had to give them a break from the continuous play. Refresh their minds and reset the strategies.
“Nonetheless, the girls performed exceptionally well today,” she said.
Tang said the players also entered the match with confidence but had to overcome some hurdles along the way before finding their rhythm.
The squad has continued to develop despite a mix of experience and youth, with only five players having featured at the previous SUKMA edition and the remainder relatively new to the Games environment.
Team manager Stephanie Law echoed Tang’s confidence, backing the Sarawak girls to reach the final and challenge for the gold medal.
The clean sweep now sends Sarawak into the semi-finals on Aug 21, where the unbeaten side will look to keep its perfect run intact.
