SELANGOR: Sarawak women’s water polo squad continued their positive start to the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) Selangor 2026 after powering past Federal Territories 19-6 at the Darul Ehsan Aquatic Centre today.
The Sarawakians, who defeated Penang 18-11 on Wednesday (Aug. 12), maintained their winning momentum in the round-robin competition involving Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
Despite trailing 3-2 in the opening period, the charges of Coach Lau Kum Weng quickly turned the tide, producing a strong response to outscore Federal Territories 8-4 in the second period and take the lead.
Sarawak maintained their momentum after the break, adding four goals in the third period while restricting their opponents to just two to extend their advantage to 14-6.
They then put the result beyond doubt in the final period, scoring five more goals to complete a convincing 19-6 victory.
The win keeps Sarawak’s campaign firmly on track as they look to build on their impressive start to the competition.
Also present to witness the match were Sarawak contingent’s Chef-de-Mission, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu and, Sarawak Sports Corporation’s (SSC) Chief Executive Officer, Mu’azamir Jili.
