KUCHING: The Sarawak women’s rugby team stormed into the semi-final with a commanding 38-7 win over KL Tigers at the Padang Astaka, Petaling Jaya yesterday (May 17).
Coach Stephen Patrick’s team continued their strong run in the MSNS-KRS Women’s Rugby League with a dominant victory over KL Tigers, securing a place in the semi-finals.
Stephen expressed his gratitude and pride in the team’s performance, especially under challenging weather conditions.
“Grateful. Our main plan has always been to reach the semi-finals after studying the other competing teams.
“Yesterday’s game against KL Tigers was played under quite hot weather — that was a challenge for the team.
“But we managed the match well and came out with a win,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted today (May 18).
With the Gawai Dayak holidays approaching, the team will take a short break before resuming preparations for their semi-final clash.

“After Gawai, we’ll resume training to face whoever we meet in the semi-finals.
“The opportunity is there — we must turn it into success,” said Stephen.
Moreover, he reminded the players and management to maintain their health and fitness during the festive season.
“Wishing a blessed Kaamatan and Gawai Dayak to all Sarawak rugby players and management.
“Take care of your food and health — we have a big mission to complete after this. Hooohaaaaa. God bless all.”
Sarawak’s victory solidifies their status as one of the top contenders in the league, with momentum building as they head into the knockout stage.
