Sarawak women’s rugby team debuts in MSNS-KRS League

KUCHING: Sarawak women’s rugby team is set to make its debut in the MSNS-KRS 2025 Rugby League, facing ATM on Saturday (April 26) in the opening match at 2:30 pm.

The team will face off against some of the region’s top teams in the competition, including Cobra Venom, ATM, UPNM Barbarians and KL Tiger RFC.

Matches will take place at Padang Astaka in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, with the finals scheduled for July 7 at Sultan Suleiman Stadium.

This debut is a proud moment for the 28-member squad and a key step in empowering women in sports, giving them the chance to showcase their talent at a national level.

On their Facebook page posted on Thursday, Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) expressed excitement about the opportunity to compete at such a high level.

“We are thrilled to announce that Sarawak rugby will soon be making its debut in the prestigious Liga MSNS-KRS 2025 Rugby League.

“This exciting development marks a significant milestone for Sarawak rugby as we expand our presence and showcase our talents on a larger stage,” SRU said.

Alongside the players, Sarawak rugby’s management will join the campaign to gain organisational insights and hands-on experience in Selangor’s premier rugby competition.

“By doing so, we hope to further develop our capabilities and elevate the standards of rugby in Sarawak,” the statement added.
