SIBU: The recent floods across Sarawak have garnered the attention of people from all backgrounds, particularly after the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, went viral on social media for braving the rain to help evacuate flood victims.

While Tiong received widespread praise, some questioned the absence of other elected representatives (YBs), suggesting they were nowhere to be seen.

However, this was quickly addressed when a Facebook user, Alex Fred Diglin, shared a compilation of photos showing YBs from across Sarawak on the ground, assisting flood-hit communities in their respective areas.
“I’ve seen quite a few Facebook posts asking about the whereabouts of YBs during this flood disaster. So, here are some pictures of our Sarawak YBs on the ground, ‘playing in the flood’,” the post read.
The post quickly gained traction, garnering 1,700 shares and 840 likes.
Many in the comments and shared posts expressed their pride in Sarawak’s YBs for their dedication and willingness to help in times of crisis.

“Thank you for these pictures, and I’m pretty sure there are many more out there helping the people in their respective areas.
“Negative comments will always remain negative. Well done to all the representatives who have stepped forward to assist,” said a Facebook user.

“We do not need any additional reasons to be proud Sarawakians, but here are a few more,” said another Facebook user.
“Even if you share these, ‘those people across’ will still claim that our MPs do no work. They want us to believe the narrative they are trying to create.
“Oh, those same people commenting want to see our government fail in helping the people, supposedly?” said a Facebook user.
