KUCHING: Sarawak’s young divers made an impressive mark at the MAS/NSC/MILO Sportexcel Age Group Junior Diving Circuit 2025, dominating the competition and emerging as overall champions.

Held from Feb 12-13 at the Negeri Sembilan Aquatic Centre, Sarawak clinched 21 medals: 11 gold, 6 silver, and 4 bronze.

Head coach Rosatimah Muhammad expressed immense pride in the team’s performance.

“This win represented a significant milestone for us,”

“Congratulations to all the athletes for ensuring Sarawak’s victory in this competition,” she told Sarawak Tribune recently, gleefully.

This remarkable achievement saw them outshine teams from four other states, with Penang finishing second with 5 golds and 1 silver, while Sabah secured third place with 3 golds, 5 silvers, and 2 bronzes.

The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur took fourth place with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze, and Johor placed fifth with 1 silver.

Rosatimah highlighted that this was the first competition of the year and introduced several fresh faces, especially in the under-11 Category D for both male and female divers.

She also praised the divers’ exceptional skills, noting that the results were a clear reflection of Sarawak’s strong development programme.

“Our athletes from Sarawak’s development programme are truly outstanding.

“This victory bodes well for the future, and we hope the divers maintain their excellence in upcoming competitions,” the coach said.

Rosatimah also thanked the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) for their continuous support.

The team consisted of 12 divers, 7 males and 5 females, aged between 8 and 13 years old.
