KUCHING: Team Sarawak has arrived in Kuala Lumpur to participate in the 100PLUS National Interstate Under-12 and Under-16 Team Badminton Championships 2025, held at Stadium Titiwangsa from Oct 29 to Nov 2.
The contingent features some of the state’s most promising young players, selected based on their performances in the Sarawak Junior Badminton Tournament 2025 and other national-level events.
Representing Sarawak in the Under-12 Boys category are Lucas Ho Ming Joon, Ezra Liau Jih Loch, Danice Tchin Mao Quan, Brandon Wong Yuan Wei and Eric Chen Ying Tian.
The Under-12 Girls team comprises Samantha Kong Zi Yann, Iris Tang Shi Jing, Raisha Adelia Rezza, Jenelle Chee Hai Xing and Marvena Alvera Jossandli.
In the Under-16 Boys division, Sarawak will be represented by Jared Foo Dun Liang, Chong Yan Cheng, Mohammad Najib Haqimi Mohamad Osman, Darrick Ong Shang How, Wyn Ong Yi Ze and Adam Wong Xin Khai.
The Under-16 Girls lineup includes Janice Tchin Yao Xuan, Wafa Shahmina Rahman,
Wendy Feebie Ricky, Yuki Leong Jaesie Mariam and Chuo Zhi Xuan.
In a statement issued today (Oct 28), SBA honorary secretary Datuk Dr Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad said the team reflects the growing depth of young badminton talent across Sarawak.
“Our focus is to provide continuous exposure and competition opportunities to
our young players. This event is a crucial platform for them to gain valuable experience while representing Sarawak with pride.
“Our junior teams have trained diligently under the guidance of our coaches and the Development and Selection Committee.
“This event is a valuable opportunity for them to test their abilities against the best in the country. We believe team Sarawak will perform with pride and fighting spirit,” he said.
He added that this participation forms part of the broader SBA 2030 Roadmap, which aims to build a sustainable pipeline of players who can eventually represent Malaysia at the international level.
“We are optimistic that our young shuttlers will continue to improve and one day
fly the Sarawak and Malaysian flags at major tournaments,” he added.
