BINTULU: Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak) continues to support the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) in empowering young Sarawakians through the two-day “Leadership in Youth” programme, held on Oct 15 and 16 at NU Hotel, here.
The initiative, part of Sarawak Youth Week 2025, brought together youth from diverse backgrounds to explore leadership, communication, teamwork, and personal development.
Chief executive officer of AZAM Sarawak, Ali Suhaili, said the collaboration reflects AZAM’s ongoing commitment as a strategic partner of the Sarawak government in strengthening youth development through participatory and experiential learning approaches.
“Every young person has the potential to lead, regardless of their background or experience. What they need are opportunities, guidance, and exposure to build confidence and purpose,”
“Through programmes like this, we aim to help young Sarawakians realise their leadership potential to contribute meaningfully to their communities and to the State’s vision under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030.”
He added that AZAM Sarawak’s youth development initiatives are designed to enhance communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills, essential for the rapidly changing world.
The programme featured interactive activities, team exercises, and reflection sessions highlighting leadership as empathy, resilience, and service.
Adding depth, a “Coffee Talk: Leadership in Youth” session featured young leaders Afiq Khatem (CEO, Ibrandium), Theron Then Kai Yuan (president, AZAM Young Souls – AYS), and Loo Yong Sieng (vice president, JCI Malaysia, JCI Jalan Tanjung Kidurong 2025).

On the second day, the “Confidence Through Expression” session, organised by AYS Toastmasters Club with Bintulu Speakers Club and Miri Toastmasters Club, introduced participants to the Toastmasters International framework.
