KUCHING: Sarawak’s Viviana Lin Winston has made it to the top three in the Miss Grand Malaysia 2025 competition, proudly representing the state on the national stage.
Better known as Vivi, the Iban woman expressed her excitement and high spirits as she carries Sarawak’s name to the grand finals, set to take place on July 30 at the High Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
“This is not just my personal journey, but a fight for all Sarawakians. I want to become the first Iban woman to win Miss Grand Malaysia,” the 25-year-old said.
This marks Vivi’s comeback after a seven-year hiatus from the pageant world to focus on her studies at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). Now, she returns with a big mission and strong confidence.
The atmosphere at Kuching International Airport last Friday evening was lively, with dozens of fans and supporters cheering her on before she departed for Kuala Lumpur.
Also present to show support was the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who praised Vivi’s strong determination and described her participation as an inspiration to young women across Sarawak.
“We are proud of Viviana. May she succeed not only as a representative of the Iban but also as a pride of Sarawak. I will personally attend the finals to give my support,” said Snowdan, who was accompanied by his wife, Datin Melinda Claudia.
He added that contestant selection should emphasise quality and intellect, not just physical beauty. He hopes Vivi will shine with maturity and wisdom, especially during the question-and-answer segment.
“Let’s not forget, one of her competitors is a doctor. This year’s competition is intense and full of class,” he added.
Miss Grand Malaysia 2025 is seen as more exclusive and prestigious this time, featuring contestants who are not only beautiful but also highly capable.
