KUCHING: In a remarkable display of skill and composure, Florida State University’s Mirabel Ting clinched the individual title at the 2025 Briars Creek Invitational yesterday.
Held from March 10 to 11 at the Golf Club at Briars Creek, South Carolina, Ting from Miri delivered outstanding rounds of 67 and 66, finishing at 11-under par.
This victory marks Ting’s sixth collegiate win and contributes to the Seminoles’ team success, securing their fourth consecutive team win for the 2024-2025 season.
The tournament faced challenges as the second round was cancelled due to heavy rain, reducing the event to 36 holes.
The 19-year old’s performance at Briars Creek adds to her impressive collegiate career.
Since joining Florida State, she has earned multiple accolades, including being named the 2024 ACC Golfer of the Month and securing All-ACC honors.
Her consistent excellence has solidified her reputation as one of the nation’s top golfers.
Ting’s calendar remains packed with high-profile events.
She is set to compete in the Old Bran Well Match next week, followed by the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur 2025 in April – a tournament that attracts the world’s top amateur female golfers.
With the season revving on full throttle, Ting is not just a rising star for Florida State University but also a source of pride for both Sarawak and Malaysia.
