KUCHING: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak is set to host the Sarawakiana Festival 2025 from December 8 to 13, under the theme ‘Warisan Ilmu, Budaya dan Kepercayaan’ (Heritage of Knowledge, Culture and Beliefs).
The festival, which showcases Sarawak’s rich history, arts, customs, traditions and indigenous belief systems will feature exhibitions, lecture series, forums, cultural workshops, storytelling sessions and performances aimed at deepening public appreciation of the state’s cultural heritage.
Among the activities are forums on taboos and mystical beliefs of indigenous communities, lectures on traditional arts and practices such as Tiang Jerunei and Bidayuh cultural expressions, workshops on Bidayuh dances, Kelembit and Baju Ujan, children’s storytelling sessions and a Hadrah competition at The Hills, Kuching.
All programmes are free and open to the public, providing opportunities for interactive learning, documenting knowledge for future generations and promoting the preservation of local arts, traditions and creativity.
The festival also offers a platform for the community to actively engage in understanding and sustaining Sarawak’s cultural heritage.
