KUCHING: Sarawakians are urged to take this festive season as an opportunity for reflection, unity, and forward-thinking.
Encouraging the community to ponder over the past year’s events, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian noted the unprecedented achievement of the Sarawak Government in passing a historic budget, projecting revenues of RM12.7 billion, the largest in the state’s history.
“Under the Premier’s leadership, Sarawak achieved remarkable progress, establishing progressive and inclusive laws aimed at securing the future with integrity, financial security, and sustainability.
“These efforts align with the goals of PCDS 2030 (Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030), reflecting the government’s commitment to nation-building.
“This remarkable progress is only the tip of the iceberg of what we will go on to achieve in our nation-building efforts,” he said in a Christmas message.
Dr Sim also asserted the importance of unity, urging vigilance against any attempts to divide the Sarawakian community.
He also called upon Sarawakians abroad to return in view of the crucial role of their skills in contributing to the ongoing nation-building efforts.
“Come home, contribute, and let’s build Sarawak together. The time is now,” he said.
And as 2024 approached, he expressed hope for prosperity and happiness for all Sarawakians, regardless of their global locations.
“Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” Dr Sim added.
