KUCHING: Despite heavy rain, the 2025 state-level Chinese New Year (CNY) Open House was celebrated with great festivity.
The event drew around 1,000 visitors from various ethnic backgrounds and walks of life at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today (Jan 29).
The event, organised by the state government, was attended by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Also in attendance were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, among other dignitaries.
The arrival of the leaders was welcomed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian who is also the Minister-in-Charge of the celebration.
At the event, guests were treated to a variety of special Chinese New Year delicacies and entertained with musical performances by local artists such as Valerie Thiam, Ng Chien Chien, Ivando, Roxy Izy, and Hafizah.
