KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has applauded the Sarawak government’s progressive economic strategy, commending the state’s dedication to sustainable development and high-income status by 2030.
Under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Sarawak has successfully executed the Sarawak Economic Action Council’s (PCDS) 2030 vision, with a strong emphasis on three core pillars: a stable economy, social inclusion, and economic sustainability.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali praised Sarawak’s commitment to transitioning into a green economy, adopting environmentally-friendly technologies such as carbon storage, carbon trading, and Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS).

“The implementation of CCUS marks a significant milestone, making Sarawak the first state in Malaysia to embrace such a progressive approach. This move demonstrates the state’s dedication to sustainability and green technology,” she said at the launch of the Moral Value Appreciation programme here today (July 28).
“The Prime Minister has expressed support for Sarawak’s initiatives and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving the nation’s broader goals. Through dialogue and cooperation, both leaders aim to set an example for other states in Malaysia, promoting a harmonious and prosperous future for the country.”
Sarawak’s proactive approach is evident not only in its commitment to sustainability but also in taking legislative action to facilitate the implementation of essential CCUS infrastructure. This comprehensive approach showcases the state’s determination to turn vision into tangible results.
The Prime Minister’s praise further solidifies Sarawak’s position as a trailblazer in sustainable development, validating the effectiveness of the PCDS 2030 strategy. As Sarawak continues its journey towards a green economy, it seeks to inspire similar endeavours nationwide.
With the Prime Minister’s support and recognition, Sarawak’s commitment to green technology and sustainability sets a positive example for the nation. As the vision for 2030 unfolds, Malaysia is poised to embrace a greener, more resilient future, driven by Sarawak’s visionary leadership and progressive efforts.
