BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei: Sarawak’s Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, attended a royal banquet on Thursday (July 16), in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.
According to a post on the Astana Negeri Sarawak Facebook page, the prestigious event, which took place at the Royal Banquet Hall of Istana Nurul Iman, was also attended by the Queen of Brunei, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha.
Accompanying the Governor and his wife was Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife, Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud.
The grand banquet was also attended by members of the Brunei royal family, state dignitaries, foreign dignitaries, government representatives, and members of the diplomatic corps.
The event reflects the strong ties of friendship and solidarity that continue to be fostered between Brunei and its close regional partners.
The presence of Wan Junaidi and Fauziah symbolises Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations, friendship and the long-standing historical bonds shared with Brunei.
The Governor and his wife expressed their deepest appreciation to Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah for the invitation to the celebration, praying for His Majesty’s continued good health, well-being and blessed reign for the prosperity of Brunei.
